Hi, my name is Riku and I am a college student enrolled in Beloit college, WI as an exchange student from Japan. I am traveling around the United States during this summer break. I really want to experience and enjoy different culture, languages and places in this travel. My home town is Kyoto which is the old capital in Japan. This is really beautiful place and has historical atmosphere. When I was in Japan, I belonged to a club giving a tour for foreign travelers so I want to share my experience in Japan and the culture with you and know about the culture in which you live.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love travel and being the places where I don' know. I would like to learn and share the culture and experience. In addition, I'm majoring Anthropology which is a study of human culture and life. So, I really love to experience different culture and lifestyle and share the experiences. These are why I'm a couch surfer.

Interests

I like outdoor activities, such as mount climbing, hiking, and camping and feeling nature under the sun. And I also like to take pictures when I visit new places. I would like to show some pictures which I took in Japan. Sports is one of my hobbies, too. I love to watch baseball, soccer, and basketball games. Cooking is my hobby as well.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love Rock and Instrumental music. I'm not familiar with music of other countries so I would be grateful, if you let me know your favorite music.

I like watching movie. My favorite titles are Ocean's Trilogy, The Shawshank Redemption, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Gattaca, and so on. I hope to know your favorites, too.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'm staying in the United States for studying abroad for one year, so this staying is one of my big challenges in my life. Starting new life in new environment is not always easy. My English skill is not enough to live in this country so I am struggling with a lot of things still now. Everything is different, fresh, exiting and sometimes annoying. However, I finished my first semester in this year and am enjoying the life in United States. I'm proud of myself.
