to figure out what i should do with myself
I'm friendly and easy to get along with for the most part. I've just left Istanbul after 2+ years of teaching there. I'm new to Berlin and still getting into a routine but I still get to speak Turkish most days.
I like to read about everything. Blurbs on alternative energy technology, contemporary slave narratives, most things that were originally japanese.
I was a student of literature and philosophy and nowadays, the only thing I want to do is learn languages and travel the world.
I've had several already. Life has progressed fast for me in some ways. Maybe to laugh as much as possible, learn things and try to be responsible and considerate with your every feeling and action. There are only a few of us who are going to save the world, but each one of us will affect another person, either positively or negatively every day of our lives. We may as well bring joy into the world.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I met one of my best friends in Istanbul on CS, and I've also had the privilege of surfing with a great couple in Sofia, Bulgaria. Bulgaria, which I knew little about, and whose language I had no knowledge of became a great learning experience and solid hours of laughing. It's really the most fun I've ever had traveling.
travel, of course. languages, working through Turkish, particularly. finding new music. good beers/wine. cooking. reading. writing. learning.
Music, Movies, and Books
movies: the science of sleep. donnie darko. frieda. amielie. junebug. the dreamers.
music: joni mitchell.
books: cat's cradle. virgin suicides. disgrace. the catcher in the rye. one hundred years of solitude. amerika. haruki murakami books.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
bought a one way plane ticket to Istanbul, Turkey
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach one to cook a few different things. American Pancakes, not the German ones. Channa Masala...those are radically different, aren't they. I can teach academic writing, though that's not so interesting :)
