About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I am looking back my life since I was retired and lost my wife. And I am trying to find a new vision which I had'nt experienced or overlooked.

ABOUT ME

I am a retired old man (78yo). I worked for a machinery company after graduating university. My technical interest moved from machine design to physical application research such as cancer therapy by accelerators, positron emitting tomography (PET) for detecting cancer and LSI production technology. After retirement of the company, I continued the research work at Waseda University, where I was given Ph.D in 1993.

PHILOSOPHY

Do the best.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

After the East Japan disaster on 11th March 2011, I accepted the victims to my home. After the confused period, I decided to use my room for CS. When I was young, I visited many countries on business, and met many persons who showed me kindness and helped me in case of trouble. I would be very happy if I can accept foreign visitors to repay the past kindness.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I started CS two years ago. I have accepted more then 100 surfers. I have been sending money every month to the victims of Tsunami and also poor children in the world through NPOs. Since CS is free system, I recently started Airbnb to supplement the expense. But as I still like the spirit of CS, I still continue CS by limiting the person and period. I don't accept an urgent request and surfers, who only want to stay free, neither.

Interests

Net communication with facebook. Reading (literature to suspense). Hearing (classic to jazz).

Music, Movies & Books

Music: jazz to classic. My favorite piano jazz player is Hiromi Uehara. She is great! Books: historical novels and mysteries.

One Amazing Thing I've Done

I had lung cancer two times. Every time, I was inspected by a PET system with other diagnostic systems. I had been engaged in the development of the Pet system for long years. The first surgery was eight years ago, and the second treatment was by a heavy ion therapy, which is thought to be the most advanced system. I was also involved in the development. And I am still alive going gym everyday.
