Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have hosted guests and I love playing tour and surf teacher for people who come to my home in Port Stephens. I am travelling at the moment so I hope to be privelaged enough to spend time on the couches of others.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I am a total couchsurfing beginner, but I have have played host to many visitors. I have enjoyed taking people around my home of Port Stephens, New South Wales, Australia. I love sharing with them my passion by taking them surfing and enjoying the beach and laid back lifestyle that Port Stephens has to offer. I have only surfed on a couch once before but I have learned that it is important to be courteous and have good manners, as well as being clean and tidy. However it is just as important to be open and have fun.
Interests
SO MUCH ROOM FOR ACTIVITIES:
My favourite thing in the whole world is SURFING. My whole life I struggled to find something that I was totally unconditionally in love with doing. I tried playing an instrument, I tried football and I tried going to the gym. None of these things motivates me to get up in the morning and do it every day the way that surfing does. When the surf is flat, I love to just walk, sometimes with no purpose or direction, but where the environment takes me. I have a particular passion for surfing unusual, vintage or just challenging surfcraft.
Having now based myself in Magdeburg, Sachsen-Anhalt, Germany. I have found a new interest in cycling!
I also have a passion for graphic design (I am a Graphic Designer), particularly typography and poster design. I appreciate good design and creativity.
Poker is another strong interest of mine. I would love to play with or teach other people poker. Poker teaches you so much about peoples personalities!
Food & Drink are designed to bring people together to share the experience!
THE SENSES:
Taste: I am interested in new taste experiences, particularly tasting new wine, beer and coffee. I am interested in the connection between food and culture.
See: I am not necessarily interested in seeing the biggest, best and most popular sights. I am interested in seeing how local people live and their day to day surroundings. I enjoy art in museums and on the street. I also enjoy walking around cities towns and the countryside.
Smell: Hopefully the smell of wine, beer, coffe or food
Hear: I can appreciate music, conversation or silence.

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: I love underground or unusual movies, but I also like some mainstream stuff as well. I can appreciate a Gaspar Noe as well as a James Cameron.
Favourite Movie: Blues Brothers (1980) (sentimental favourite)
The last movie I saw: 7 Psychopaths (2013)
Music: Live music is nearly always better than recorded music. I would say that I am interested in mostly prog metal, but I can appreciate most genres except Gangster Rap and Country and Western (If you like both of these things we can´t be friends)
Favourite Album/Band: Wavering Radiant, ISIS (2009)
Last Album I listened to: The Incident, Porcupine Tree
Books: I only really read a few authors, but Science Fiction is my prefered genre.
Favourite Book: Use of Weapons, Iain M. Banks (1990)
Last Book I read: The Endymion Omnibus, Dan Simmons (2005)
Currently Reading: The Hydrogen Sonata, Iain M. Banks (2012)
I would love to see, hear and read new things and share with others some of the things that I like.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The last amazing experience I had was my first Silvester (New Years Eve) in Berlin. It is truly amazing to see thousands of people out in the streets sharing a drink and letting off fireworks for the who evening. It also fulfilled a secret desire for pyrotechnics that I never knew I had.
