Hey! I'm Tom, a warm hearted British guy who just moved to Taiwan! I was initially going to get a full time job here in Taipei but thought maybe I should explore alternatives. I'm not usually the type to go with the grain of society and I have all sorts of mad/ambitious ideas, so I think I'll follow my own path and see where it leads for a bit!

I'm a designer who started to pick up some freelance work so I want to take advantage of being mobile, I am desperate to get a Gogoro and explore Taiwan. I love love love Gogoro and all electric bikes haha, I'm a big fan boy!

I can speak basic Chinese (HSK 2) though my reading and typing are better than my speaking! My tones are a bit hit and miss to say the least. I really do have a passion for languages and it's a life ambition to no longer be that clueless 外國人. I want to speak fluently, one day!

One of the reasons for coming to Taiwan is the amazing vegan (buddhist) food, there's tons! I love to cook and am always happy to answer questions people have about vegansim. I'm not a health vegan so I really do like all sorts of food, some of my favourite is just vegan versions of some classic junk/comfort food.

I'm a twin and my identical twin bro lives in Indonesia so I've spent about half a year there in total, love him to bits! I have inspirational brothers, all changing the world in their own ways.

Interests

I love to explore by just wandering, riding a bike around or on a moped. I don't need a direction specifically but I love being by a beautiful river, like the Sumida river in Asakusa, Tokyo. I'm a creative guy, always jotting down ideas and occasionally bringing them to fruition. I love to test my boundaries and break them, so I've tried to learn a little of each creative skill.

I lived in Japan for a year, it's something I never expected of myself but after that I was no longer afraid to just go and move to where ever I want :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach design skills in various areas! As well as helping to improve someone's English. I have experience designing and teaching English in Japan! I would love to improve my Mandarin, currently at HSK 2 level, I can read and type well but my tones and pronunciation are lacking!

I can share my experience of the world and living in a country like Japan. I can help you plan a trip there and tell you some of my favourite spots and how to live cheaply whilst enjoying yourself!

I can share my enthusiasm and creativity, I am alway eager to help and try new things. I genuinely want to help lovely people with anything, cooking, cleaning, learning English etc.. anything! I can probably be the most useful designing or building something :)
