About Me

ABOUT ME

Very caring, empathetic guy. Will always try to understand any one's point of view. Funny, laid back, smart. Analytical and critical, but with an acute sense of altruism. Fundamentally positive about "human nature" (a term which is of course contestable).

Interests

I like music and sing bass in a choir of Madrigal Singers. I'm very politically engaged with local, national and global politics, and also like discussing philosophy and the 'Big Questions'. Very much into video gaming culture and the intelligent debates around it as a form of artistic expression and its potential in other venues like education.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once managed to hitch-hike from a tiny town called Mödlareuth to Berlin in one hitch. The town was dubbed 'little Berlin' by US soldiers because it had its own wall dividing east from west. We were there after crossing the Czech border on foot and we happen to meet some Reuter's Journalists doing a piece on the place for 20th year since the wall came down. They interviewed my friend who was actually travelling the whole 'Iron Curtain' when I joined him. By coincidence one of them came from Stratford where I used to live - we had mutual friends 100s of miles away. I got a lift to Berlin out of it and later on met up with then at the premier of Inglorious Bastards! Funny enough I actually left a disposable camera in their car and years later got it posted to me. Incredible - such a small lovely world!

Another hitch-hiking story of human kindness. Four of us had just got off the ferry on the island of Mull in Scotland and had been vaguely directed towards one of the few houses on that island - the plan was to go to a party there. It was suddenly pouring with rain and our friend on a motorbike had gone on ahead with my friend girlfriend clucking on the back for dear life. Me and my mate just thought we would walk it though. After 5 mins a land drover pulled up (without even a thumb!) and offered us a lift, and of course they knew the family we were trying to get to. On the journey we realised how far we would have had to go on foot - maybe 9/10 miles!! Another beautiful moment of human kindness that ended in a fantastic party! :D
