ABOUT ME

I am a 29 year old that started travelling at about the age of 14. I managed to travel parts of Europe fairly extensively and all over the continental United States. I lived for 7 years in San Francisco from the age of 17 to 24 when I moved to Portland, ME for 5 years. I spent alot of time hitch-hiking and, frankly have seen the seedier side as well as the magical side of the country. I recently moved back to CA hoping to get back to a mellower vibe. I have had spectacular luck in finding a job and meeting some supportive people, but housing has been extremely difficult. A friend taking seriously ill also sort of eliminated my "pillow" of savings, so I'm starting (again) from scratch.

PHILOSOPHY

I walk a fine line philosophically speaking. I am, I suppose, ultimately a nihilist, I really don't think any of it matters in the end. We all end up worm food. But I enjoy myself too much to really give into the whole absurdist depression thing. I'm not an overly negative guy, but I don't only look for peace and light, either. Things are what they are and most of the time it's pretty freaking funny. I also believe in being a devil's advocate. I love to debate and argue, but I find alot of people feel attacked when questioned on personal beliefs. I'd love to find more people who enjoy arguing that don't take it personally. Finally, I'm a "live and let live" guy. I don't jump on a lot of bandwagons, but I'd never dislike a person for being a hippie or faerie or punk or whatever. Some folks need a particular type of community to flourish in. I believe in surrounding myself with lot's of different types of people. It's too important NOT to have a cross-section of personalities in your life.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Well, as I have no couch at the moment I would like to participate by sharing knowledge, stories, recipes, food and workshare with people out there cool enough to open their homes. Participating in projects I might otherwise never be exposed to and learning about other peoples ideas, ideals and points of view fascinate me. Whether I agree or not, I am always open to discuss. I am an incredible omnivorous cook and can prepare Vegan Vegetarian or Meat Laden dishes. I get on well with kids and am always happy to corral tykes and babysit if the folks want a night out. When I get established in the city, I hope to be able to provide a couch or two, as SC is rougher than it seems.

I was hired, completely by chance, and travelled with an Underwater Abstract Puppet Show. It was pretty righteous. Also, when I was a 16 year old runaway a family in West Des Moines, IA totally took me in for the summer...it was dumbfounding.

I know alot of stuff, except the best way to fill out this section. I'm always learning and (mebbe) always teaching. I admit, it's mostly useless knowledge, but hey...it's fun. Histories of songs and music, puppeteering, film and theater knowledge, jeez...y'know stuff!
