I grew up in the US; lived in the UK during HS; did some graduate studies in Germany. I have lived and worked in a few other places, but return to Ann Arbor.

I recently realized that I have dated only one caucasion American (my race and nationality) in my entire life and that was as a teenager; I think that says something about the nature of the conversations I have had on the couch and over dinner and out with friends over the years. I think I have spent as much time in my life surrounded by hearing foreign languages as I have English.

MY DAILY LIFE:
Currently, I teach computer science and perform consulting work (programming) for embedded systems companies (think gas sensors, lasers, thermostats). Both can give some flexibility of schedule.

MY TRAVELS:
I have traveled a little bit abroad and a few hundred thousand miles in the US (literally). I have tended to visit obscure places when traveling (e.g., 2 days in the capital and 4 months in some village that nobody has heard of).

I eat healthy and tend in the vegetarian direction. I am slightly picky about what goes into my stomach throughout the course of the week, but I can eat just about anything (e.g., junk food when traveling is awesome).
I drink coffee 24/7.
I don't drink alcohol very often, but I tolerate it completely under considerate and respectable circumstances (e.g., don't wake the neighbors).
I do not tolerate drugs under any circumstance.
I listen every genre of music - my mood dictates.

* Geography & Geopolitics (but tend to avoid anything that leads to arguments).
* Outdoor activities: caving, climbing, ice climbing, mountain climbing, snowshoeing, skiing, mountains, water (fresh and ocean)

* Solitude (as far as one can get).

* Knowing the more lyrics than the locals to 1920s German communist music Karaoke. I can sing Jay Chou songs like no tomorrow too (usually when I'm alone).
