Hi, I'm Jonathan! I'm originally from Boston in the US, and I've been living in Beijing, China for over 10 years now, both working and studying. I'm currently working at a tech startup that promotes online charitable donations. It's been a lot of work, but also quite interesting.
As you might guess, I love to travel! I love exploring new cultures, meeting new people, and learning from them. I've visited several countries in Asia - China, Mongolia, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and India. I've also visited a few spots in Europe, and have traveled to many places in the US.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I joined Couchsurfing back in 2011, but have only gotten more involved recently. Here in Beijing, there is a CS group that meets weekly - it's usually a nice mix of hosts and travelers, and I like all the people I've met there.
I'm most interested in meeting new people and exploring new cultures - CS seems like a cool platform to do it.
Hiking, eating, visiting off-the-beaten-path spots, making new friends
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Camping in a rainforest in Malaysia - I had to fend off monsoon rains and leeches, but it was an incredible experience.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm happy to share lots of details about life in China! China is an amazing country that has changed immensely over the past few years. It's an incredibly interesting place, and I'm happy to provide plenty of tips and advice should you want to visit :)
