About Me

Enjoy life to the Fullest! cause its too short!

See myself as a Quiet, tidy , discreet guy.Full of fun too.
Dont stress very easily(probably comes from living on a lovely Island!)I am open to all ages of people and relate to most sensibly.Take life with one step at a time.

Born in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe), grew up in a mining village in South Africa , progressed to the big city of Johannesburg as a young Adult , where I got a yearning for travel.Africa always remains deep inside of me where ever I go,even after over a decade of living in the U.K.

I recently have had to readjust my life sphere due to an Inherited Eye problem which thankfully is being remedied but will heal with time.

If you got time go to the You Tube link about it:

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

If you do request a couch or I offer you a couch for a specific day or period , do have the decency to tell me where , when and what time you are arriving.

Some Couchsurfers , think that the service is a Free Hostel and figure "Oh well , I will keep you waiting ,Wont rock up or never contact you the host before arriving at your doorstep....are definite candidates for neutral if not negative references!"
Punctuality and not inconveniencing your host are quite the norm , not just using your host as a doormat.(Unless you live in another dimension)And yes I have even picked up an irrelevant "Negative reference" myself.

Please Ask if you would like to help yourself to Goods that travelers try freeload such as beverages, use of washing machine or cooking facilities the good majority of csers do so but I have come across the odd one who considers it a given.

I like the company of one or two people , not really a party animal, but a good time on the RAZZ every now and then does not hurt!

And lastly I am here for free advice on the best spots to see , I may even take you to a few.

Its a kind of magic or an attraction associated with Globetrotting that definitely made me addicted to Couchsurfing from the start.I travel and like to take from the on the road experiences of others and see how I can fit them into mine.

When visiting New Zealand in 2008 I noticed it was a great way to see a place for the first time with proper local Hospitality and ever since then have been hooked.

I have hosted csers in my Flat in Douglas , Isle of Man from Italy , Spain,Belgium, Romania , England , France, Australia , Canada ,Malaysia,India , Morocco,Czech , China , Japan and the United States since 2011.

And had the fantastic experience of Couchsurfing in Spain,France , South Africa ,Belgium, England and Morocco.

I will be hosting in Randburg throughout December,January and February 2013 on my yearly sojourn home to South Africa.(Making my couchsurfing experiences all the more fun and different!)Already in such a short time I have hosted a singaporean Matt and now a Swiss chap Klaus. After noticing just how hard it was to get to certain touristy places in Joburg , I contacted the Hop on Hop Off bus company and managed to organise a few complimentary tickets for csers and their local hosts....what fun.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Making the ardous journey to The last of the Kalash People in the Kalash Valley in NWFP (Pakistan) surviving as they have done for centuries amongst warring nations in May 2000.Seeing the Hauraki Gulf in New Zealand , breath taking!Enjoyed the solitude of Bedouins in the Sahara desert in Morocco.Sunset in the west of the Isle of Man and waiting for the Northern lights (aura) to paint a pink celtic sky into illuminous greens.
Witnessing a changing South Africa at the same time I became an adultearly 1990s a few places and regimes worldwide can take a leaf out of their book!
All the experiences have installed a sense of positivism within me !

Teach, Learn, Share

I dont know about teaching have considered TEFL though , but I am often described by friends as patient and easy to understand when describing something!
People are still people and human no matter their circumstances, place or nationality!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Loads of travel stories...including my latest funny one of a DR WHO impersonator playing weird music at 4 am in the morning on Croydon's streets scaring freaking me out. ..and then dressed in a matrix type jacket he wisps across the road like some sort of a super hero. time it would be a better option to couchsurfing instead of hang round till an early train.💩
