About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Really would like to get "enlightened". I won't elaborate ....
ABOUT ME
Personality / character / behavior / attitudes - right?
I see myself more, rather than less, in these ways:
accepting, compassionate, hard-working, simple, a good listener, a deep thinker and observer, genuinely open to changing my attitudes and behaviors, helpful, perceptive, sincere, and other things for sure. Also: obsessive, indecisive, impatient, and pedantic!
Additionally, I think my life has been very very interesting the past 30 years, but, all that interesting stuff hasn't made life *happy*.
PHILOSOPHY
No philosophy. But, I like these ideas: Live to learn. Live to just live. These are more goals than ways that I actually live by all the time.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
How do I build this community? By being genuinely me when meeting you. By accepting you, and showing interest in you. By sharing - both giving and receiving.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've only surfed so far. With a wonderful lady friend in California USA, a wonderful Christian family in Honduras, and a wonderful Japanese man in Nicaragua.
Interests
Zen, Buddhism, organic farming, raw foods, cultures, language, lots of non-popular musical styles (especially acoustic blues from the early and mid-20th century), plants, animals, the "natural" world, Findhorn ways, Masanobu Fukuoka's book "One Straw Revolution", Santi Asoke Buddhist group in Thailand, permaculture, and there's more, but maybe this is enough. Ah, I also like Spider Solitare!!

Music, Movies, and Books
MOVIES:Zeitgeist: The Movie, The Matrix, and others I don't remember. I like movies but I'm not a big fan, and I have been pretty much out of the movie scene for 25 years!
BOOKS:Masanobu Fukuoka's book "One Straw Revolution" was the catalyst that sold me on the farming life. It's not a book ONLY about farming, but about life in general. Eckhart Tolle's "Power of Now" and "New Earth". I'm sure his others are great too.
MUSIC:Love old acoustic blues music from the late 1920's until the electric era became more popular, like in the late 1940's. And lots of 1960s - 1970s rock.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've eaten more junk food ...!
Teach, Learn, Share
Seems to me that when we think we like or dislike something or someone, what's more likely happening is that we like or dislike the very subtle feelings we experience upon contact with that something or someone.
Try this: when you encounter a person or thing that you strongly like or dislike, notice how that feels. Either sensationally or emotionally, or both. See if THAT isn't what you like or dislike.
Also, try this: when you get one of those nagging coughs that just won't go away - DON'T cough. Just breathe through it. You don't HAVE to cough. After 30 or 45 seconds it'll go away. Then, intentionally cough once or twice and it won't come back. That 30 or 45 seconds will be interesting, and a bit difficult. Notice what happens to one side of your face, including the eye on that side, and your throat. If you can explain to me what's happening, we'll both know. I'M REALLY INTERESTED TO HEAR FROM SOMEONE WHO'S TRIED THIS. REALLY, PLEASE, GIVE IT A SHOT. EVEN JUST ONCE!
