My mission is to enjoy life, learn as much as I can, grow spiritually and have new adventures
I was born and raised on a family dairy farm in Wisconsin. After graduating from college, I taught elementary school for four years. Following that I taught in the Psychology Departments of a college in Wisconsin for three years and in Minnesota for 2 years. Afterwards, my husband and I owned/operated three group homes for cognitively handicapped adults for 30 years. I am now a widow who lives 6 months in Florida and 6 months in Minnesota each year. I love history, Buddhist philosophy, art, music, reading, meeting new people, travel and helping others. Last fall I spent eight weeks traveling in the UK, staying in hostels. In the future I hope to travel to Italy, France, Austria and Costa Rica.
I believe that when we die the only thing we take with us are our experiences. I try to live my life so that I will have no regrets and harm no one. I also believe that we were meant to not only learn the lessons life has to teach us, but also to enjoy life.
A smile is one of the greatest gifts one can give others and that being close to a serene person gives serenity and pleasure to others.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
When I was in high school, I was big on extra curricular activities. Everything from cheerleader to class plays and writing for the school newspaper. I worked my way through college, so studying and work took up my time. Now in Florida I like do volunteer work, play cards and attend Buddhist Study Groups.
I am new to couchsurfing.
I enjoy playing cards and all sorts of games. I like to read, go for walks, cook, watch documentaries about history, science and the lives of dynamic people. I enjoy thought provoking movies.

Music, Movies, and Books
I am a fan of Masterpiece Theatre on Public Television. The Inspector Morse series is my favorite detective. The Jane Austin series, as well as Dickens. I like classical music, the Beatles, the Bee Gees, Abba, and Celine Dion. History books by Paul Johnson are also favorites of mine.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Traveling throughout the UK for eight weeks this past fall was an eye opener. I had no trouble with there public transportation system, loved staying at the hostels, and developed a great admiration for the British people. The Brits were friendly and helpful. I can't say enough good things about the people I met.
Teach, Learn, Share
I taught elementary school and college level students. Running a business taught me much. Because my handicapped clients had medical issues, I know a bit about medicine. I grow up working on a farm. I know a bit about US history. Because I was the youngest of nine children, and the group homes I owned/operated each had from 6 - 15 people living in them, I am very comfortable sharing my home with others.
