I'm currently here in Brazil learning how to speak Portuguese and how to live life.
What's up folks,
I'm Matt, so far I've spent 25 years and a bit on this Earth, and I'm interested in different cultures and different ways of life. I've been obsessed with travelling and getting to know different lands and peoples since my first trip to Japan when I was 16. Since then, I've been to a few more places. I'm currently in Sao Paulo, Brazil staying until the end of May.
We only got one life, live it.
If you're doing something shitty, nobody will like it; if you're doing something mediocre, everybody will like it; if you're doing something worth doing, the crowd'll split 50/50.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm going to start by surfing and hopefully host when I get a place of my own.
So far the only couchsurfing experience I've had is staying with someone I didn't know in Florianopolis, Brazil. I was a little skeptical to stay with someone I didn't know at first, but the experience turned out to be the shit... and now I'm checking out this site (finally, after quite a bit of hesitation).
Snowboarding, surfing (poorly), travelling, getting to know new peoples and cultures, Portuguese, philosophy (my university major), adventure (sports or otherwise), almost anything else under the sun
- rock climbing
Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: foreign and depressing films such as OldBoy, City of God, Requiem for a Dream
Music: electronic, rock or hip hop
Books: philosophy and some fiction (I don't read as much as I should.)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In Japan, I spent a night climbing Mount Fuji. Shitty climb, epic sunrise.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm an ESL teacher so if you're learning English, I'll have a tip or 2 for you. If you're in through Vancouver, I love snowboarding, so maybe we can hit the slopes.
