I don't really take a great interest in describing myself but I'm quite a positive person really. I have been called ""theatrical"" but that's just enthusiasm having its way with me. Enjoys occasional bouts of healthy cynicism too. I'm really into people and love to hear what gets them going. I'm more of a 'let's go out' instead of a 'let's stay in' person and love to have tons of stuff to do, but it feels weird to say so because I am perfectly entertained by meaningful downtime as well.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Over the years, I have hosted and surfed. I had a pretty large apartment in Antwerp a couple of years ago so was quite willing to share that space with travelers and regularly did so.
Give and take, friendly people all-around.
I keep busy with writing on film on platforms such as http://www.photogenie.be/photogenie_blog/search/node/vanity%20celis and http://www.supercalifragilistic.be/author/vace/ and love to burn my eyes in screening rooms. I would like to say I have a plethora of other interests too but apart from teaching and movies and spending lots of quality time with myself, friends and significant other that's pretty much it. I can hold a mighty decent conversation though and love doing that pretty much all the time. Hanging out is a much treasured pastime I excel in.
Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: more than is considered healthy for any human being. I have a fondness for cult and exploitation but love pretentious arthouse crap too. Anything offbeat floats my goat too.
Reading happens and favorite authors include Truman Capote, Nabokov and Fitzgerald. I love the phantasmagoric and the grotesque and am of course also into reading film theory and criticism (OF COURSE). Philip K Dick is the best ever thing that happened in quite some time.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I recently met Tobe Hooper. Sitting across the man who directed Texas Chainsaw Massacre while eating a piece of pastry he gloatingly commented on as 'that pie is getting eaten alive!' is a memory for the ages.
