CURRENT MISSION
Explore Western United States this Summer
ABOUT ME
I'm still mostly a hippie in disguise: a responsible school teacher librarian type who likes to sew skirts, make scones, walk the streets, and look at you cockeyed. Past some of my partying days, but up for adventures. When I graduate in May, I am launching myself into a summer of traveling on the advice of one of my mentors. I do not drive. I have never driven, even in eight years of living in Los Angeles. I'm queer. I'm vegetarian. And I do yoga. I am not ashamed to be a Californian, born n bred. I want to learn how to make tamales with my Gramma. I just planted a lemon tree in the backyard.
PHILOSOPHY
I am growing more empathetic as I get older. I'm also rather governed by nostalgia and ambition. Not an egotistical ambition, but the kind of ambition that finds me, in the middle of the grocery store, planning a five course feast off the top of my head. Then when I get home, reality hits.
Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have found and hosted a couple of people. The next two weeks takes me to San Diego, Vegas, southern Utah, and back through Nevada to Ventura. I may still make it to New Orleans and Olympia at the end of the summer. Since I'm out of town so much, don't be sad if I can't host you.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Probably not the most experienced couchsurfer, but I am very very experienced at house/cat/dog/plant-sitting. I've lived probably about a year total taking care of other people's houses. I can water plants (er, and "plants"), feed animals, love them, bring in the mail. I leave places cleaner than I found them.

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue
Chaco Canyon in New Mexico is still rather remote, including a 20 mile dirt road that takes hours to traverse. Our group had decided we would climb the mesa before daybreak to look down on Pueblo Bonito as the sun rose. Dreary from lack of sleep in freezing temperatures, we collectively hallucinated a car starting and driving away without our tent of hikers! We ran out of the tent in pajamas, leapt into another car, pulling on pants and finding water bottles, and sped off towards the trailhead. Actually, we jumped the gun, and the other car had to radio us, "You don't know where you are going! Slow down!" Anyway, the adrenaline was sufficient to wake us up and get me to the top of the hill. I remember the pattern in the rockface was like the ridges when you drop a handful of pebbles in water.
Enseignez, apprenez, partagez
I can teach you how to knit. It's easy. Also, dog training, sewing on a button, and anything crafty or femmey. I would like to learn how to ride a bicycle in the city.
