About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To take chances and make mistakes.

ABOUT ME

I was born in Durham, NC. Grew up in between Chapel Hill and Pittsboro in the woods. Went to a mix of public and private schools from k-12. I attended the Carolina Friends School, a school with a Quaker-based philosophy. (There are many other friends schools around the country, including Sidwell Friends, where Tasha and Malia go to school!) During my time there I cultivated and accepted many Quaker philosophies (non-violence, every person is equal, etc.) During my time there, I went to El Salvador for two weeks to build a basketball court in a rural village, worked with migrant farmworkers and headstart programs for two weeks two different times, and spent two weeks hiking and canoeing in Nevada and Utah where I managed to get bronchitis, which lasted for six months since I had no access to a doctor when it first began. I now attend UNC Chapel Hill. I am not sure what I'm going to major in, maybe philosophy, women studies, english or anthropology? I'm easy going, friendly and excited to travel!

PHILOSOPHY

Changes a lot. Feminism tends to be a pretty constant tenet in there roaming around. Quakerism also has a strong influence on my beliefs.

Music, Movies, and Books

Anything Kurt Vonnegut wrote. He's the man. Music: Megafuan, Hammer No More the Fingers, Embarrassing Fruits.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I feel like this is a tough question but I got to video chat with Howard Zinn last night (Oct. 21, 2009) and ask him questions about the war. That was pretty sweet.

Teach, Learn, Share

Well, I can safely say that I can now teach anyone who wants to know the dance to Thriller.
