ABOUT ME
Geek at large. Besides doing what everybody else does I engage in questions of dubious utility, such as: the migration of human populations, evolution of digital life forms, decision making and how humans fail at it, the nature of space and time, free will, scenarios of human extinction, utopias and dystopias, nature vs. nurture, life extension...
Unfortunately, I cannot brag about any original contributions to the above fields. But maybe one day...
Interests
I'm learning to play the guitar since 2008, with hopes of being an amateur guitarist fluent in flamenco, classical and modern styles.
At one time I was an avid Go player, and will not turn down an invitation to play.
I enjoy the occasional bike trip, should have more of those.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books: a bunch of non-fiction (from Capitalism and Freedom through The Selfish Gene to Fermat's Last Theorem), a bunch of science fiction (from Solaris through Roadside Picnic to Blindsight), and a bunch of miscellanea (Neil Gaiman, Kurt Vonnegut). I'm growing a (very) small private library (almost 200 books right now), collecting and guarding my books like a dragon guards its treasure.
Music: "There's two kinds of music: good and bad. I like both." -- Duke Ellington (attributed)
So: from Georg Handel to Samuel Barber, from John Download to Kazuhito Yamashita, from Doc Watson to Tommy Emmanuel, from Carlos Montoya to Vicente Amigo, from Yasmin Levy to Alizee, from Jean Michel Jarre to Air... too much music, too little time :-(
