Hello, this is Wayne. I'm from Taiwan but now I live in Hong Kong. This is my new CS account, if you wish to know more about me, please follow my instagram - waynekao30.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
After working in Beijing for 2.5 stressful years, I decided to take some time off to relax and just simply recharge myself. This recharging trip was only meant to be 3 to 6 months, but in the end it lasted 2 years. I quit my job and had been traveling for 2 years from Oct 2014 to somewhere in 2017. It's safe to say those were the most fulfilled and meaningful years of my life. Couchsurfing played a huge part throughout the journey.
I couchsurfed more than 100 different homes around the world, met a lot of incredible people who share the same passion. I now have family around the globe and this indeed makes me feel extremely sweet. Traveling isn't about the landmarks and beautiful views anymore, it's about people. One of my favourite quotes: "There are no strangers, only friends you haven't met.", I agree so very much.
Now after my 2-year globetrotting trip, I've finally settled down in Hong Kong, a city that I'm slowly falling in love with. Don't forget to check out my Hong Kong album, I'd like to prove the stereotypes wrong. It's definitely not just shopping and tall buildings and Disneyland, it's more.
Even I go onto a business trip quite often and usually not home, but I'd like to offer my couch to travelers when I'm here. "Live like a local" is my most ideal way of traveling, so let me show you my version of Hong Kong if you're interested.
And yes, I'm very picky about choosing couchsurfers. I'm not gonna bore you with hidden passwords but please tell me something about you. Why are you on this journey? And what kind of Hong Kong experience are you looking for? Sometimes by reading the words and seeing the pictures you just know if you're gonna click with this person or not, right? :)
Music, Movies, and Books
Too many to list :) but The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is the one which encouraged my globetrotting journey.
