sail .. climb .. learn
I love to climb, I love to sail, I love the mountains, and I love to learn new things. I have studied (and continue to study) physics and computer programming. I have a brother and a sister who I am very close with. I have worked in IT Support for the last year and I'm going on a three month trip to France and Spain before I go back to school in the spring to finish my degree. I'm always looking for an opportunity to sail or ski, anything that gets me out on the water or up in the mountains.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am surfing around Europe for a little while. Would like to host if I can when I return to Albuquerque.
The more I do it the more I want to do it. The best way to travel!
(Not specific to CS, but a cultural and personal exchange) In high school I was hosted by a French family for two weeks, and played host in Albuquerque to a French student for two weeks. I had a great time in France and in Albuquerque.
Computer Programming (Erlang and UNIX systems programming)
Sailing (Going to see the Volvo Ocean Race :D)
Open Source (as a concept to be applied to more than just software)
People (their condition, their philosophy, their animas)

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm a fan of Hemingway and Fitzgerald. The Wasteland is one of my favorite poems along with an epic poem by Ed Dorn called Gunslinger. I try very hard to read Tolstoy and I recently discovered another Russian author named Andrey Platonov who is very good. I like classic Rock, The Hold Steady, and The Black Keys, also Chopin. Thelonious Monk with John Coltrane may be the greatest jazz album ever recorded. The Fifth Element is possibly my favorite movie, but 25th Hour is one of the greatest. I'm also a big fan of Die Hard (the whole lot of them).
I just read a short story by E. M. Forster called The Machine Stops which was very good. I also recently discovered the greatest short story ever written, May Day by F. Scott Fitzgerald.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Yellowstone National Park in the Winter.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can and would enjoy teaching people about UNIX or computers in general. Also C and Erlang, although I am continuing to learn about both myself. I would definitely enjoy sitting down with anybody who does any Erlang programing and learning from them.
