About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To find a couch in NYC for the next week!

ABOUT ME

I'm a passionate individual with a keen interest in community. I often leave things to 'chance' because I love that life always surprises you. But I really am trying to be more organised. I've actually started making plans and have been astounded that 'things happen' when you make plans, and often according to plan.
I'm pretty relaxed and have an extremely dry sense of humour.

PHILOSOPHY

Live, Love, Learn, Leave a Legacy.
I think it's really important to leave a bit more than you take with you.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm new to CS and would like to reach out to what sounds like a great community.

I always have a couch available in Melbourne Australia.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'll let you know as soon as I've had any.

Interests

I've worked as a chef for over a decade, and I'm very interested in food. I even went and got a degree in food science.

Learning, sharing knowledge, telling stories, teaching, education, and engaging with people are all interesting to me. Kinda blows my mind actually...

I love riding around new neighbourhoods on a bike and exploring. Makes me feel like a kid again.

Outdoorsy stuff like camping, hiking, geology and landscape, scuba diving with sharks (yes actually diving with sharks), "roughing it", farm living, gardening. But also love writing and reading.

Music, Movies, and Books

Film: Pi, THX1138, Lost Highway, Akira, Food Inc.
Books: Foucault's Pendulum, Siddhartha, Steppenwolf, Ham on Rye, and my etymological dictionary.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think the top five (in no particular order):
Skinny dipped in water with sharks in it.
Proposed to a girl on the Brooklyn Bridge.
Have publicly spoken before 1,200 people.
Started my own business from an idea.
I have repaired pianos for a living.

Teach, Learn, Share

Education is reciprocal. The student-teacher relationship is exactly that, a relationship.

It is without ego.

Education says: I don't know. This is what I have been told, and I'm telling you. It appears to be accurate and true. But maybe you have a better answer. Let us find out together. Let us evaluate the facts...
