ABOUT ME

I'm very curious, uncomplicated and I want to discover the world. Maybe sometimes I think too much but I also like to laugh.
Here is something about my personal history:
After the split-up of my parents I moved a lot in Germany (Fulda/Mainz/Wiesbaden/Koblenz/Regensburg/Würzburg) Apart from this I started a pretty normal live. After Highschool I met my wife and I studied computer science. I started as software developer and became later on a project manager for portable navigation systems.
But after being 20 years together with my wife and 13 years of working it was time for something completely new and there was still the old dream of traveling the world. I quit my job and I decided to join the journey of life...

PHILOSOPHY

There are no bad experiences. Every experience is valuable especially the hard ones. It is only the matter what you can get out of them.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have heard about CS only one week before I started my trip. I think it is the best way to get to know people all around the world when living together in their flat. It is a great opportunity to get in touch and not just staying outside as an foreigner.
I love the idea of CS and when coming back from my travel I'm looking forward to host others travelers.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm a absolute beginner. But my first experience in LA was really amazing and showed me that coach surfing is really the best way of travelling.
During my travel trough all the amazing National Parks in the southwest of the USA I spent most of the nights in the backcountry sleeoing in my tent. No internet - only beautiful nature but unfortunately no CS...

Interests

Since my childhood I was fascinated by the nature and I feel somehow connected to it.
Therefore I like to be outside, doing hiking (with my dog), riding my bicycle, climbing, sailing. I like the mountains and the sea as well.
I like interesting discussions about this world and the sense of life ;-)
I have a strong interest in people. I want to know what they think and what they feel. I found out that we are all very similar but that we express our self in different ways. Now I want to extend my studies world wide ;-)

Music, Movies, and Books

I started as a headbanger but in the meantime I like all kind of music. Music must come directly from the heart, it must touch emotions inside of me.
Well, there was a time I was nearly every week in the cinema. At the moment I think I have seen too many movies. It does not happen very often anymore that a movie is able to surprise me. I met Soraya on Hawaii and she summerized my feeling very well: In the moment I want to participate at life not only watch it. But if I would be forced to select one DVD it would be "Lord of the Rings".
At the moment my favorite books are travel literature ;-)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I enjoyed a lot my sailing trip in the Caribbean Sea. It was so relaxed and I found so much freedom!
Also crossing Corsica through the mountains following the famous trail GR20 was amazing. The nature of Corsica is overwhelming and I got so much help!
At last I was fascinated by the beauty of the National Parks in the southwest of the USA.
