Hey there! My name is Daniel(and I mean just Daniel ; without a last name :P I'll get to that part later). I'm 19 years old and I'm currently a freshie in an audio engineering school(Diploma). I was born in Indonesia though my whole life had been situated in Malaysia(my dad lives there, although he works in Singapore). What I usually do : I spend my time tucked away inside my room, making & experimenting on music using my computer as well as playing several different instruments.
I spare some time to read as well and I consider myself a wild imaginer(aren't we) as my mind employs ambiguous scenarios that are beyond general scopes. I'm also teaching myself software programming due to my interest with the engineering aspects of technologies and the change that it could bring about to the world. I'm an agnostic, so religion isn't part of who I am... although cultural experiences(be it religions, races etc) would enrich my knowledge of the colourful diversity that we have in this world. I'm a firm believer of who we all made ourselves to be based on our way of life, our journey to self discovery.
My odd singular name stemmed from my parents actions when it comes to marriage registry(I wouldn't dive into there because its best I keep this fact a private one from the internet.. but if you get to know me in person.. we can sit down, get a cup of coffee and talk about it). Due to that, my document was issued with a singular name. I think I talked(or typed)too much about myself haha... I'm an easygoing person.. so you shall have no qualms on me haha.. Anyways, to the 'Why I'm On Couchsurfing' section.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Truth be told, I have never heard of the term 'Couchsurfing' until I was 17(Please don't laugh at me haha). All my life, I didn't really get the chance to go around places outside of Malaysia(except for Indonesia and Singapore) that much due to financial status and timing. Or that's how I used to think myself as. I don't envy my friends going around places in other countries. But I do envy travellers and wanderers who often treats the world as their home.
A few years ago, I found myself in a position where I don't like staying in one place... it's as if when the world moves around, it's actually asking you to move as well... which is how I truly felt.. I love adventures.. I want to explore... I'd love to learn and experience different things that I don't usually see in front of my eyes. I think the life an adventurer/nomad/wanderer seems to draw inspirations towards us all and that's really cool. It's a process of self-and-universal-discovery through humility and compassion.
I think the term 'couchsurfing' leads you to a universal path where you get to meet new people as they come into your life(which I think serves as a life experience network). Meeting new people everyday gives me an insightful meaning to my journey and I'd love that.
I did some research on the internet about couchsurfing and I stumbled upon this website... Seeing this global act of friendships and adventures shocked me because I've never thought that there would be a large community like this. I believe this a great platform to kickstart your journey and making many new friends.
