Fun, adventure, and meaningful connection with interesting people.
I'm excited about this phase of my life and about expanding my range. I live in a wonderful small town where I am very involved in my community, and I love contributing and connecting with others who care about the things that really matter.
In the past couple of years I've had the opportunity to visit Hawaii, Jamaica, St. John USVI, St. Augustine Florida, and Costa Rica.
The people in my life matter more than anything. I'm very close to my wonderful daughter Kara, and we love traveling together.
I enjoy bringing people together, which is one of the big rewards of teaching yoga. I have some students who have been taking my classes for over 15 years. It's all about relationships, and helping to create community. Life is a challenge, and the support we can offer each other is what makes the journey possible.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I don't have much Couchsurfing experience, but I'm really intrigued by the possibilities it offers. There's a whole world full of interesting people out there!
It was great to make a connection with Barb when my daughter and I were on St. John. Barb graciously drove us around and showed us the island. I stayed with her when I was there again several months later, and she took me on a snorkeling adventure I will never forget.
I love having a good time in simple ways. My friends and I can hang out and have a fantastic time just talking and laughing. Laughter is IMPORTANT!
In the past couple of years I've gotten into improv, and a friend and I do a thing we call Grown-up Playtime. It's just outrageous good fun, which this world needs.
I run Artist's Way groups, based on the book by Julia Cameron. This book inspired me to create my yoga studio and to leave my full-time job 18 years ago. My Artist's Way groups help participants to tap into their own innate creativity and to realize their dreams.
Music, Movies, and Books
I read a lot and often have several books going at the same time, mostly non-fiction like memoirs, personal growth and spiritual stuff. I'm completely addicted to Public Radio, so rarely listen to music. I'm a member of our local film institute, where I get to see great films that don't show in mainstream theaters.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
When my daughter & I went on a Caribbean cruise, she talked me into going ziplining in the Dominican Republic. Turns out we BOTH loved it!
Teach, Learn, Share
I teach yoga and meditation. I'm a good cook and an experienced gardener. In my little yard I grow flowers, berries, asparagus, and a bunch of other vegetables and herbs. The miracle of growing food never ceases to amaze me!
