To feed my curiosity and wanderlust!
I read someplace when I was very little that one can know another by their favorite ice cream. I don't know the validity of this but, for what it's worth, I like rocky road ice cream.
I love learning new things and gaining new experiences. I like adventures! If you somehow convince me it is fun (or a horrible experience worthy of story) I might try it.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I participate because I trust. I trust that there are still good people left in this world that I have yet to meet. I think strangers have something wonderful to offer. In meeting others I hope to perpetuate this shared idea.I'm fairly new to this and still figuring things out. I hope to share my couch in the near future but till then feel free to contact me for coffee or a drink.
Had some of my first CS meetings and coffee/drink experiences. I'll have to say, it was great dipping my feet into the CS waters! I loved hearing every one's stories, comparing drink and food preferences, finding out about different cultural norms, and so forth. I was just also recently hosted for the first time. This renewed my affirmation in the beauty and positivity found in others. I hope to have many more awe-inspiring experiences soon. *I don't know where to put this so I'll just say it here -- FYI: I'll sleep just about anywhere. The only caveat is I'd prefer not to share my bed/floor with cats or tons of cat hair and dander. I'm allergic. Though I enjoy playing with cats (lasers + cats = hilarity) and petting them occasionally, I tend to sneeze, itch or exhibit cold-like symptoms should I be in contact with cat-related things for too long. Don't worry: Small amounts of cat hair won't kill me; a lint remover (that I bring) can take care of that. (^_^)
Both the city and back country suit me. If I am not doing something energetic then silence suits me. For quiet times, I love people watching and good conversations. I also like playing in the sand, dirt, or water. Restaurants, food, dancing or watching dance, music, theatre, concerts, and watching the sunrise after a night are some of the other good things I enjoy.
Music, Movies, and Books
I'll watch or read just about anything as long it suits my mood.
More specifically: The 5th Element. Léon: The Professional. Love Actually. The Hangover. Up. The Hitchhiker's Guild to the Galaxy. (500) Days of Summer. Pulp Fiction. Princess Bride. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.
Off the top of my head: The Subways. Last Shadow Puppets. Ne-Yo. The Temptations. Jagwar Ma. The Black Keys. Iron & Wine. The Beatles. Rodrigo y Gabriela. Paolo Nutini. Toro Y Moi. Show tunes. Oldies.
Books and playscripts: favorites include Cannery Row, White Oleander, The Invisible Man, The Pillowman, Harry Potter, the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy "trilogy," Dog Sees God, and Cat's Cradle.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've backpacked through the Utah canyons during an unusually cold 10-day Thanksgiving break. It's a collection of some of my favorite memories.
Teach, Learn, Share
Share: If you are ever struggling to keep warm while backpacking -- perhaps you have been caught in a snow storm -- hunker down, put all your dry clothes on, and have some hot cocoa with butter. The calories and warmth from the hot drink will be a welcomed respite. And then do some sit-ups or other caisthenics in your bag!
Teach: some Tagalog vocab, basic ballroom steps (like those found in salsa), and some camping tips. I also have more to share. Feel free to just ask. :)
Learn: I enjoy learning from people similar to the description of type of people above, though I especially like learning best from nerds, buffs and fanatics. If I am going to learn something, why not learn from people absolutely in love with the subject matter? Though if we are both novices to the subject, I'd be happy to learn with you :D
What I Can Share with Hosts
I love people. I love long, meandering conversations about anything and everything, from the trite to the taboo. I'm also quiet, and clean. I love food, and am willing to cook for others, or be a Guinea pig for food at restaurants you've been meaning to try, or food you want to cook. I'll be your travel buddy.
