Living in China since late 2015 and working as a teacher at a Guangdong university. I grew up between France and the UK after my family decided to up their London roots and become sheep farmers in the Pyrenees mountains (Google Perpignan if your interested). I met all my childhood friends in school out there any moved back to London for uni. Finished up, worked in law for a couple of years and, in turn, upped my London roots to move to China. My life in a nutshell.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Lets be Frank, it's a cheap way to travel... it's not my only reason but it's definitely up there. My more noble reasons have to do with the people I meet, their inside knowledge of an unknown place, chance book/film/music recommendations, overlapping interests and random nights out. So basically the prospects of a good chat and accommodation are are my reasons for being on here.
- eating out
- scuba diving
- rock climbing
Music, Movies, and Books
Music taste is very fluid and I feel like any attempt to pin it down fails to do it justice. I like a lot of stuff from Autechre to ZZ Top and love nothing like a good tune recommendation.
For both movies and books I grew up on a lot of sci-fi and love classics like Blade Runner (or Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep), slightly more absurd stuff like Brazil and even Ex Machina . Bold opening with sci-fi I know, but I have to get it out there. Other big time favorites include films like Usual Suspects, L.A. Confidential - Kevin Spacey fan boy - Pulp Fiction (and other Tarantino things), Life of Brian, Trainspotting, City of God, A Prophet, La Haine ... too many to list.
