About Me

I'm an easy-going, goofy, down-to-earth, shy guy that enjoys meeting new people and having new experiences. I am likely to be one of the most kindest and most generous people you will ever meet. I have a diverse professional background that includes working with at-risk youth. I currently work in the behavioral health field as a compliance officer. I also am attending undergraduate courses in communication and hope to graduate later this year.

I live in Pittsburgh, PA with my two cats, Pip and Penelope, although, I am originally from St. Louis, Missouri. I am a crazy cat man, or so I'm told. Penelope is a normal two year old cat, and Pip is a five-year-old cat with a condition called Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH) and he has cataracts in both eyes. CH is a neurological condition a cat is born with in which the cerebellum of their brain is underdeveloped. It affects Pip's motor skills. He has difficulty using his hind legs. Cerebellar hypoplasia is comparable to cerebral palsy in a human.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love meeting new people and learning about other cultures, even if it's from someone that lives just a few miles down the road. I also enjoy traveling on a dime, so I understand the desire for others to find the same thing. As I would like to keep couchsurfing as an option for my own future travels, I welcome the chance at welcoming others into my home.

Interests

I enjoy meeting new people, learning about various cultures, food and cooking (Although if you saw me, you wouldn't believe me), traveling, writing, painting, museums, politics, reading, wine, beer, advocacy, camping, hiking and kayaking. Additionally, I enjoy baseball, particularly the St. Louis Cardinals, my interest in the Cardinals borders on fanaticism, football, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the St. Louis Blues and Pittsburgh Penguins in hockey.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2013, I quit my job on a whim and traveled to six countries/territories over 27 days entirely solo. My trip included a cruise from Miami to St. Maarten, St. Thomas and the Bahamas. After my cruise, I spent a few days in New York City, before I flew to Japan, Singapore and a remote Malaysian island called Pulau Tioman in the South China Sea.

Countries I’ve Visited

Bahamas, Cayman Islands, Haiti, Jamaica, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Saint Martin (French part), Singapore, Sint Maarten (Dutch part)
