I was born in the States, but have been living in Germany since I was 16, so a little over 10 years now. The first 5 years I lived together with a family that has been my family abroad ever since, so I deeply learned to appreciate and enjoy the privilege of being immersed into a new culture heads on, and how crucial that is to understanding and partaking in society in a new country. Languages, literature and travel are my foremast obsessions, which is why I opted to study Scandinavian and Dutch studies in Cologne and to specialize in Icelandic and literary criticism. I always love meeting people from around the world, because it reminds me of how much human beings are alike, whilst still being so unique. Every story is different!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I applied for a scholarship for a trip to Icelandic to research for my bachelor thesis and will be in Reykjavík in May. Despite my studies in Icelandic, I have only spoken it in classes and in total have only has about 4 or 5 conversations with Icelanders, although I have been learning it for going on 5 years now. So whilst in Iceland, I would love to have the chance to meet up with a local and simply have a chat.
