About Me

To make it to South Africa.

I was born, I now live, I will later die.

I don't believe in the end of anything because the end of one thing is always the beginning of another. In the same sense, the beginning is not the beginning but the end. Everything melts together to form a continuous stream of existence that we are all part of. I am a phase. Life is like us jumping out of the ordinary and bouncing around for a bit before rejoining the stream of isness. Like bubbles in a fish tank.
Modern, western society is ridiculous. It reduces life to a never ending want of material possessions that do not lead to happiness or contentment or anything really. It just leads to more wants and needs. Some of the happiest people I've met live their lives day to day and want for very little outside of food and a roof over their heads.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

At the moment, I am couchless. I have a camping pad and anyone is more than welcome to stay on that if I'm not using it at the moment. I hope to one day have a couch and it will be open to one and all.

So, I guess the best way for me to participate is to respect and be kind to those who allow me to stay on their sofa.

Music, Movies, and Books

Hollywood sucks.
Jane's Addiction is the best band to ever walk the earth.
I just read Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance and am thinking about quality.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I hitchhiked the entire length of Japan. It took over a month. I fought with forest monkeys and escaped a flock of sea eagles that found my tent interesting one morning on the beach.
At the northern most tip of the country, you could only see for a few meters before everything was lost in fog. I sat on the beach and watched birds walk in and out of the fog hunting for fish in the shallows. The only sound I could hear was a fog horn that went off every minute or so.
