I grew up in the suburbs of London. My family is Indian in origin but my parents were born in Kenya and moved to London in the 1970s. They were both teachers and have both retired now. My mother is a linguist and specialised in French and she has inspired a love of languages in me. I used to speak French pretty well but it has rusted now - in recent times I've been teaching myself German and I intend to keep learning languages as long as I'm alive! I also intend to teach English as a foreign language in the future.

I won't write too much more because its always better to find out in person, but I will say that as a guest I am respectful and considerate and value respect and kindness in other people. It would be great to stay with and host interesting people from around the world. I like people that have interesting perspectives, particuarly when we live in a world where people are so conditioned to have the same perspective and same fears, prejudices etc.

Interessen

I love music from all over the world and have very broad taste. I've been listening to alot of African music recently and at the time of writing (August 2015) just got back from the world music festival WOMAD near where I live in Bristol. I used to DJ drum n bass and I play the guitar and piano and am learning the bass guitar.

I am vegan and have a passion for eating organic and locally-sourced food. There is a good scene for that here in Bristol and I work at two local organic food companies. I also have an interested in using raw foods and herbs to heal the body.

At the moment I am playing tennis a few times a week. I never played much as a kid but I really wanna get into it now.

I am interested in reflecting on the nature of reality and what shamanic traditions and plant medicines can help us come to terms with reality and ourselves. I studied History at Uni and am fascinated by problem of we can attempt to separate all the myth and the lies from the actual truth, especially when powerful interests are often supporting the lies!

I would love to visit Gabon and West Africa. I am fascinated by the Bwiti culture on Gabon and the music of West Africa in general. I would also love to visit Cuba one day.

At the moment I'm listening to lots of artists that I saw at WOMAD in July 2015.

Bookwise I am reading one called 'The Science Delusion' by Rupert Sheldrake and a book about Muhammad Ali and black politics in the 60s called 'Redemption Song'.

The last good film I saw was the Turkish film 'Winter Sleep' - I love a good subtitled film :)
