Wants to Meet Up

A late bloomer. I spent the first decade or so of my adult life in chronic stasis, and now it feels like I'm about ready to try and make up for lost time. Right now, I'm finishing off my University degree (just 6 more classes to go!) and from there, I'm thinking about just picking up and leaving this town for a while, and going wherever for a while.
Life is short, don't bend to the whims of society, don't be a cog in the machine. Be your own person, live in the world, always try to educate others, always be educated yourself, just live dammit, don't be held back by your own inhibitions.
This is something I want out of the world, yet, I am trying my best to follow my own advice. It can be tough when you spent most of your life doing the exact opposite.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm new to all of this. I am laid back, if a little nerdy and reserved. I want to change that, so let's meet up if you want to.
I might be willing to host, however, my apartment is kind of small, and my "couch" is more like 3 theater-style reclining chairs. They are super-comfy for sitting, but I question if they are the best for a great nights sleep. I can personally confirm that it's possible, but I was REALLY tired that night :-D.
I'm also don't make a great deal of money, so, while I can take ya'll out to see some places and whatnot, I can't treat for 4-star meals and the like. We can have fun on a budget though. :-)
I want to surf too, so perhaps I will eventually.
I love writing, video games, movies, sports of all kinds, philosophical discussions, and goofy ones as well. I hear I am a great listener as well, so feel free to share your stories of adventure and wonderment with me, and I'll chime in every now and again.

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: The list is long and diverse.
Music: I prefer rock and roll, but anything that sounds nice, is nice.
Books: Anything Steven King, Fight Club, 1984, The Poisonwood Bible, and many more.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I once almost drove my car off the side of a cliff into the sea. It's a long story.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can't claim to be a handyman or anything of that nature (Give me enough time and I might be able to change a tire), but I do know sports, athletics, and thanks to a recent desire to lose a lot of weight, I can show you a few good gym activities. I know some stuff about video games, screenplay writing, and random useless factoids.
Like I said, I'm a late bloomer, but hey, I'm completely willing to learn if you're willing to teach! I'm learning Spanish right now, so I'd love the opportunity to learn from a native speaker.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share random stories about life in the amazing land of Bakersfield. I can tell you about the 3 times I almost died. I can share my knowledge about Baseball, Football, video games, etc. I can amaze you with useless factoids. I can be a considerate, responsible, humble, and well-mannered guest.
