PHILOSOPHY

We live in a changing world, but something seems to have taken control over our lifes. It is corporations. Big multinationals influence us every day. They tell us how to spend our time, what to wear and how to behave. They do so by spending millions on advertising and marketing campaigns. They act globally and have huge audiences. Now I remember a "wise" man once said "with great power comes great responsibility". Don't get me wrong, I don't ask companies to be Superman and save the world, but it is time to use the power to do good. In my opinion the human-centered design approach has the potential to do this. By designing services and products that center around the needs of users and solve complex problems, it is possible to reestablish trust in enterprises and fulfill social duties.
Being born in Nairobi/Kenya, I have been confronted with creative problem solving since my early youth. Seeing locals transform, reuse and combine materials, that we call garbage, into devices that make their lifes easier, has always been very inspiring for me. Influenced by these early experiences creative challenges became a part of my life.
