About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Getting the show on the road

ABOUT ME

If I knew this part, I'd be waaay ahead of the game. I'm still working it out myself but willing to try most things once (or several), and smile for the duration. It's easy to be a cynical a-hole; much harder to be perpetually chipper--why I aim to be regularly effervescent. We all need to listen more and be compassionate so we can begin effectively addressing the big pickle we find ourselves currently in (drowned polar bears is NOT cool...oil mentality is fatal).

PHILOSOPHY

Again, an evolving mass, with the longest running themes: Do least harm; initiate positivity and good karma (minimize those negative waves baby); and don't screw anyone over. Being helpful is not a bad thing, being too helpful is not Taoist.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Have couch (most of the time), need couch (occasionally), telling my friends about it so they can check it out as well and share their nice couches and stories and improve this little world in which we galavant.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've been a seasonal nomad for about 10 yrs (academics prefer "itinerant")--harvesting the surplus of the universe and creating it when I can. Do abandoned rail yards count as surfing? Owe many warm nights and lots of fun to several folks who've shared their homes w/ me. Host the random adventurer who needs a place, usually a pretty good deal for all of us.

Interests

An evolving heap which includes: conflict resolution, compassionate listening, hunting, fishing, running, sauna, archaeology, fishing, darts, canning, brewing, travelling, succulent folks, naps, fixing my truck, working on my house, and good writing.

Music, Movies, and Books

The usual late-twentysomething hipster resume: Independent and Foreign cinema beats most Hollywood schlock these days; classic American films; most any music (but not, dear lord, new country)- blues, bluegrass, newgrass, jazz, funk, rock, etc. Love all the literature classics--food for the brain. just re read the Great Gatsby. Why de hell they have you read it in high school, I don't know--I appreciated it this round, w/ the age/maturity/cynicism appropriate.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I see an amazing world every time I wake up and am really happy to be a part of it. Oh, yeah, and owls out front, and pronghorn, and my dogs. I get to see bald eagles every day against a backdrop of the Chugach Range or Knik Arm. Pretty amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

Kitchen: I do it all to your gastronomic pleasure. Vegetarian or meatatarian, gourmet or down home, sweet or savory, international or local. And I know how to clean up after it all! Pretty quick field dresser (game/birds, that kind of field dress), I also need to practice my fishing knots and social skills. I might be able to help you with archaeology/sharp shovels, Utah, snowboarding/repair...Learn fast, willing/able to make life easier for those who do same back. Good w/ minor engine maintenance/repair; sawyer/swamper skills; can weed garden/turn compost, etc.
