Milan is a center of industry, fashion, and design in Northern Italy. This city is teeming with world-class museums, restaurants, and shopping, and has a love for football that borders on unhealthy obsession. Visitors will immediately be drawn to the Milan Cathedral, Italy’s largest church outside of the Vatican. It’s a jaw-dropping Gothic cathedral in the city center that took six centuries to complete. Also visit Sforza Castle, a 15th-century fortified castle that now houses several of Milan’s museums and art galleries.

Though Milan is a hard-working city, there are plenty of opportunities to relax and enjoy a sense of calm. Stroll through Sempione Park, a sprawling green space which is home to Milan’s famous city gate, the Arch of Peace. Make your way to Navigli, a neighborhood full of art studios and great restaurants, to stroll along the Navigli Canal, popping into shops and cafés along the way. During the summer months, take an hour-long tour of the canal by boat for an interesting perspective on this up-and-coming part of Milan.
