well this is my first time on this site but when I traveled before I have always tried to find accommodation with people local to the area, it just makes for a much better and real travel experience when staying with people that are from where I am travelling.

My most amazing travelling experience was when I hitch hiked from Johannesburg to Zanzibar. everybody told me I was mad hiking into Africa alone. It turned out to be the most amazing trip of my life the people I met was always friendly and helpful. and made of the best friends I will ever have met.
