About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Build an oasis of calm and relaxation amidst an often chaotic city

ABOUT ME

Just a dynamic but cool-headed young ex-army officer striving to build a life he didn't expect, with one foot still in the beautiful existence he left behind in London.

Along the way, I'm loyally assisted by a small staff and my man Perkins, whose finest efforts fall somewhere between Sancho Panza and Spanish waiter. If you can imagine liking a foreign-language version of Fawlty Towers without subtitles, you'd probably enjoy a few days in my house.

PHILOSOPHY

It shouldn't take a rocket surgeon to realise interesting opportunities can be fleeting, so jump at unique chances while you can.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've never surfed on a couch, but heard good things about hosting from friends in England. So far I haven't been disappointed, and hope you'll be sensitive to the that track record!

Interests

Sometimes the availability of activities can't keep pace with a wide set of interests. So for now, I'm concentrating on what I can: my piano, swimming, writing, sketching, riding, and spending as many weekends as possible in the overwhelming beauty of the upcountry.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sitting on the verandah of some ancient plantation house, listening to the sounds of the mist-shrouded jungle at the close of day, is worth going a very long way for....and one of the best recompenses for passing time on the 7th parallel.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd especially like to meet people willing to share one or two recipes with my cook. You don't actually have to cook.....just give a guided lesson and make sure he writes all the steps down. Maybe that'd just be doing your part to make some future surfer's stay even more complete.

Unless you want a piano lesson, all we've got to share are local skills: Singhalese and Tamil cooking or ayurvedic energy manipulation techniques and theory.
