About Me

Discover Germany as much as I can in one year!

Open- minded, liberal, love to laugh about the stupidest things, love to take long walks, love the nature, love Arabic and African culture, love music, love children and animals, love long and interesting discussions about politics and human rights, love eating, love Michael Jackson, love South Africa, interested in religions, literature, meditation... let's meet and you'll find out more ;) Some of my greatest inspirations are Michael Jackson, Nelson Mandela, Steve Biko, Thich Nhat Hanh, the Dalai Lama, Martin Luther King and Jane Goodall.

I've just moved to Hannover at the end of August 2015, and right now I'm super happy and super excited about everything! I hope to find like-minded friends through couchsurfing in my new home, and get into exciting activities through them!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

In the summer of 2013 I met such amazing people through couchsurfing, some of whom are still among my closest friends, and I have also only awesome experience with hosts! Now I would like to get into CS more again, and hope to find friends in Germany as well through CS!

Different cultures, music, politics, migration issues and helping refugees (attention! this topic usually comes up if you talk to me for longer haha), buddhism, history (I'm especially interested about the cold war period and communism), everything that's in connection with South Africa, languages, human rights, playing the djembe, hiking, crocheting (I'm a beginner though), cooking & baking, cycling and and and and and...

Music, Movies, and Books

I mostly love historical and political books, autobiographies, but I enjoy adventurous and crime stories as well, most importantly it should be well-written. My favorite writer is Wole Soyinka, but actually I just love reading in general. I'm really interested in books about the communist times.

In music I mostly listen to the 80s, reggae, African or Arabic music or any kind of traditional music, but I could say I the most important is the lyrics, if it's inspiring and has a meaningful message, I'll like it, regardless of style. My favorites include Michael Jackson, Seeed, Nneka, fun., Nate Ruess, Nickelback, Alphaville, Queen, Bob Marley, Nosliw, Selah Sue, Miss Platnum, Dellé, Peter Fox, Patrice, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Gentleman, Douzi, Manu Chao, Marteria and so on.

In movies I also prefer political, historical or cultural ones. Some favorites are: The Edge of Heaven, Tsosi, Cry Freedom, Invictus, Skin, Goodbye Lenin etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

There are countless... but one of the most amazing moments in my life was when I met Frank Dellé before a Seeed concert in Berlin and he was talking to us about his coming album, etc... that guy is just simply amazing!

Teach, Learn, Share

I have started teaching myself Turkish... see how it goes, but I'm super happy about any small help I may get! I also want to learn a bit playing the piano and get more professional in crocheting & knitting. I'm also always more then happy to learn about the politics of your country!

I would be super happy to cook something Indian for my hosts & people I meet with, talk about the refugee issue as it is in Hungary (warning: you'll be super pissed off after hearing about it) and share my experiences as a volunteer in different migrant-supporting organisations. If you have a djembe at home I can also teach you some African rhythms!
