ABOUT ME

Hello. because people in Cuba don't have the possibility to use the internet easily, I (Emmy Weidenfeld) am administrator of the Couchsurfingprofil of Omar and Manyú. When I travelled to Cuba I met them and introduced them to the Couchsurfing project.
I felt very welcome at their place and talking to them was very good for me to learn about Cuba and gave me the possibility to understand a little more about this country.

Omar and Manyú are a married couple, living in a small village that you can reach by bus from Pinar del Rio. They work with all kind of arts, with children and make their own music. But because the house is not in good conditions and because of laws you should have a tent to sleep in.

PHILOSOPHY

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

They do only hosting, because in Cuba you dont have the possibility to travel that easily.
Because food is very expensive in Cuba, they can't give you any food. But they would help you with the cooking ;) If you decide to go to their place you should bring food with you. There are no shops or supermarkets

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

No official Couchsurfing but did the informal way some how for a long time.

Teach, Learn, Share

They can teach a lot about cuban reality, but as well about food, culture and nature. they know beautiful places which are less touristic.
Close to Vinales but more natural.
They consider them selfs amateur-sociologists
and can tell a lot about costumes,culture, religion and politics.
Beside they told me that they want to learn all, they would like to learn german and practice their English (only Manyú speaks English).
Very important for them is as well the exchange with artists from other countries and ecologist and vegetarian people.
They are interested in a cultural exchange.
