About Me

I'm currently an editor and translator in Strasbourg, France.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on couch surfing because after visiting my 10th country, I decided that staying in hostels is not always worth it. When traveling, I would really prefer a host I can speak, share experiences with and depend on instead of 12 strangers staying in a room.

Music, Movies, and Books

I mostly read about French & English literature (and Turkish sometimes). I don't think you can really qualify one "best" book or movie.

You can't compare 12 angry men and the Lord of The Rings. Same as you can't choose Crime & Punishment over The Call of Cthulhu or even the Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy. It's just comparing a game of cat & mouse and 42 Eldritch entities ; it doesn't work that way.

I usually listen to a little bit of everything, but I'm much closer to Metal than R & B.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Caught a lake trout with my hand once (felt like a ninja afterward).

Managed to not get last in the International University Ski Competition of Turkey in 2012 (86/157, heh talk about the average joe).

Backpacked in Spain & Italy alone and tasted that freedom.

Became the author of a travel book about Spain.

Met my ultimate singer (Anthony Arjen Lucassen) and got an autograph on my ticket (MY LIFE IS COMPLETE).

Made my own sushis several times already (they look like burrito rolls but who cares, strawberry and salmon is an amazing coupling)

Learned how to drive a train (subway type, not a freight one, but close enough?)

Had an accident with a moonfish while sailing at full speed with a racing catamaran.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would like to learn about all sort of things, I'm usually the curious type. I always like to visit the landmark of a city, followed by its side attractions and nightlife. I have the habit of tasting the local beers and wines (and make small notes about them).

Since I'm working in publishing and had the opportunity to travel a number of times already, I really like to share the different memories I had with a local person or another traveler. This gives us the ability to compare and enrich our experiences as a whole.

I could probably teach basic manual photography, or at least explain how it works. I'm sure we'll find tons of stuff as we speak.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I also traveled inside France & Turkey and edited a few books as an editor about both countries (which i have ties). I would be happy to share my knowledge of the countries if you're interested, I know I will be really curious about yours :).

I like to try local cuisine or hear stories coming from the region I'm visiting, these coupled with historical facts all give me usually a lot of information about the area.
