About Me

I'm a 30 year old tour boat Captain living in Gothenburg Sweden. Somewhere along the line I sort of got distracted from my backpacking-persona and woke up one day and realized I haven't been on a major-non-work-related trip for about 8-9 years. Oupsie... I basically blame skydiving in combination with studies which made sure I was poor as a church mouse.

Well it's no use crying over spilled milk, or to regret life because I sure loved my skydiving, but now I'm planning to rectify the situation. In the near future, probably after Christmas, I will be taking a plane to Mexico City and then head south. Up until then I thought it would be nice to maybe host a person or two and share some travel stories.

I live in a house with two other girls and is not always home so I will only be able to host occasionally. What we have available is a living room with two mattresses and a fairly uncomfortable sofa. If you for some reason prefer living in a tent we also have a garden to pitch it in =)

Also fair warning: I'm only on the internet periodically (weird I know) so please don't take offense if I don't answer emails. I probably haven't seen them...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

No experience so far but I am hoping to meet nice people from all around the world! =)

Music, Movies, and Books

I like most sing and song writers, some jazz, pop rock etc. Right now my favorites are a small Swedish duo called Pale Honey, check them out, they are awesome! Also a lot of Tallest man on earth, Ibeyi, Kapten Röd, Loke, Moby, Nick Drake, Paolo Nutini and Taylor Swift in my earphones right now.

Favorite movies include: Winters Bone, Short term 12, Shindler's list, Fucking Åmål, Matrix, Leon, American History X, Kung Fury (if you haven't seen it: check it out! I laughed my ass off. You can find it on youtube), Casablanca, Star Wars, The Shawshank Redemption, Elvis and Annabelle, The Hunt, Pans Labyrinth, Lock Stock and two smoking barrels, V for Vendetta, Stand by me, Before Sunrise, Before Sunset...

When it comes to books I'm a sucker for fantasy. It is something about stepping in to another world where anything is possible that truly appeals to me. If I where to recommend one fantasy book it would be Tigana by Guy Gavriel Kay, please read it. It is the book in which nothing is black or white and I felt like I had taken a punch to the gut finishing it. Other then that I adore the writings of Robin Hobbs and really like: Dave Duncan, Elizabeth Moon, Trudi Canavan, Juliette Marillier, Katharine Kerr and the daughter of the Empire trilogy by Raymond E Feist and Janny Wurst. I do read a book or two by Jane Austen sometimes and I also have a fascination with young adult books tackling harder issues like: Speak (by Laurie Halse), The Duff (Kody Keplinger), Saving Francesca (Melina Marchetta) and my all time favorite: Tomorrow when the war began by James Marsden... Hm I think I might just have figured out the real reason why I have not been traveling that much lately... ;) I do own a Kindle now though and have no problem reading on busses so I think I can keep up my high book consumption even if I leave the country!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Still working on that one. I love to skydive... Oh and my 12 year old self gifted a local Swedish celebrity with a ice cream box filled with horse poop and mushrooms, at the time i thought that was pretty amazing and bad ass, not sure it qualifies today though...

What I Can Share with Hosts

A story or two, moderate vegan cooking skills and hopefully some good time =)
