ABOUT ME

We're just a couple of twenty-somethings who escaped the Midwest for life in the city. We met in 2006 via the internet, moved in together, and now we're ready to travel the world. The good news for you is that we've got room to spare and two great hosts with a variety of interests.

I'm the urban epicure and am constantly checking out new restaurants and cafes. I'm a chocolate maker by day, entrepreneur by night, and my goal in traveling is to find others that speak the language of artisan chocolate. Props to any couchsurfer who can discuss criollo or conching.

Shawn is the outdoors enthusiast. Hiking, climbing, and running a marathon are on his list of things to do this year, which makes sense considering his job keeps him cooped up in a lab all day. His newest hobby is brewing beer, and if you stop by at the right time you might get a taste. Currently on tap: Mango-Habanero IPA

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We're new to the couchsurfing scene, so go easy on us.

I love to cook, but most of all I love to cook for other people. I could definitely see us hosting a dinner party for hungry couchsurfers in the future.

I know I've mentioned it before, but my biggest interest is chocolate. I work in a store that sells 150+ chocolate bars, but I'm always on the lookout for something that I haven't had before or for some new piece of knowledge. Shawn's biggest interest is beer, so if you're looking to hit the bars he will be the one to go with you.

We host board game nights every now and then, and we can both play a mean game of spades. In the summertime we bust out our croquet set, which usually gets us a lot of looks in the park.

When the weather warms up we try to spend our weekends outside. Canoeing Lake Washington and hiking around Mt. Rainier are two great things to do in the area, and we've recently started visiting some of the 500 or so wineries located in Washington state.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

The most amazing thing I've done - squatting down in a tiny kitchen in Laos to prepare stir-fried bees for dinner. Probably won't be eating those again anytime soon, but at least it's a story to talk about.

The boyfriend went skydiving over the plains of Kansas despite his paralyzing fear of heights. He still won't look down on a bridge but put him on a plane with a parachute and he's ready to go again.
