To bring my Sparky stories to as many kids as possible, and meet interesting people along the way!
I'm easygoing, considerate and mature. I'm also neat, non-intrusive and carry a small footprint. I started writing children's books about my dog Sparky in 2003, and this venture has opened up my life. I've met so many wonderful people, and Sparky has been able to connect with many students from coast to coast. Through the books, I hope to spark a love of reading and writing in the kids. Sparky was rescued from Death Row at a New York City dog pound, so I donate $1 from every book sale to animal agencies. To learn more about Sparky, you can check out her Web site, www.sparkyswalk.com.
Quite simply, I want to make difference during my time here on earth. The Sparky books have helped me realize this goal.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Well, I'm just starting out, so I haven't done anything yet, but I'd like to volunteer my editing services, as well as meet some other couch surfers in my area.
Music, art, baseball, independent artists, animals, food
Music, Movies, and Books
Jazz, soul, r&b, urban, Latin. I love going out to hear live music, which I try to do as much as possible in whichever city I am. Living close to NYC, I go to many clubs, but I'm a fan of smaller venues. I can't remember the last time I went to a "stadium" show. Probably in the early '80s for David Bowie.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I would say that my coast-to-coast trip across the United States after I finally graduated from college (only took six years and four schools) really shaped my outlook on life.
Teach, Learn, Share
My special skill is bringing the Sparky stories to kids throughout the country. If you know of a school that you think might enjoy an author visit (free of charge), feel free to contact me. Judging from all the fan mail that Sparky receives, I know these books are making a difference.
