Prepare for my trip to Los Angeles, where I'll be exploring the art scene, doing some skateboarding and surfing, and of course checking out the nightlife.
Creative, friendly and open minded. Having grown up in Durban, South-Africa, I've had a very adventurous childhood and from a very early age develed a strong cultural sensitivity and understanding. My friends always tell me I live two lives as currently I work as a groundwater engineer for an engineering consultancy, and in my free time I paint a lot, and also sell and exhibit my artworks. I enjoy balancing the creative chaotic side and logical rational side of the mind - for me having those both worlds is an enritchment to life.
As a token of appreciation for hosting me you can expect, besides Dutch cookies and sweets, a small original painting as well!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Experience a place through the eyes of a local is by far the most fun! It's always a very pleasent surprise!
From a very early age I've been painting and it's still my most important form of creative expression. I also do a lot of skateboarding and surfing (yes people do wave surfing in the Netherlands!). Love thinking about deep philosophical questions and exchanging views on this topic with friends. When I'm traveling I like to keep a sense of mystery, adventure and surprise. The best experiences have always come from the locals!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Last year I had the pleasure of working for SPOUTS of Water, a company that manufactures and sells ceramic water filters in Uganda. By motorbike and bumpy taxirides, I traveled throughout the country to establish new partnerships (community banks, churches, hospitals etc.). The humble friendly people I met and the rawness of living so primitively for nine months in the Pearl of Africa is an experience I'm increadibly grateful for. It also was a nine months fast course of becoming street wise in the heart of Africa (most lessons were learnt the hard way).
