About Me
CURRENT MISSION
to live life joyfully moment by moment
ABOUT ME
I work out of my home--an apartment in the northern part of Manhattan close to the Hudson River-- a good part of the day. Running my own business is exciting and even hectic at times. I am a nonsmoker with an allergy to smoke, most perfumes. I put in at least a 10 hr day of working every day and so I am short on time and energy. So although I can provide a serene, private space and reasonably comfortable bed, I make it easy on myself by asking couch surfers to be on their own for cooking and I might not be able to give you as much attention as you might want on some days.
PHILOSOPHY
I aim to be fully present as much of the time as possible and to see everything that happens as meaningful. Humor is a great leaven in life.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am new to this and looking forward to both hosting others, particularly those with whom I might share common interests, and to couch surfing in the U.S. and in other countries.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My most unusual couch surfing experience was in Mexico many years ago. I was participating in an anthropological study on the border assembly plants and found myself in Tijuana without knowing a soul but had the name of a Mexican anthropologist. When I went to the address (no phone given) I found out that he had moved and that the apartment was occupied by two young Mexican women who were school teachers. These two shared a sofa bed in their tiny space but after we had sat and spoken together for less than an hour they offered to squeeze me in as a third to spend the night!
Interests
I adore walking and getting out of the city and into nature. I am an active participant in an eastern meditation path for 30 years that includes meditation, chanting, and seva. New York City still fascinates me -- love to people watch, go to museums and films, and am very interested in world music, folk art and Indian culture.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love reading, particularly books related to my spiritual path, political theory, the Amazon, herbal medicine, economics, art, history, anthropology, history of science, activism, African and African American studies, India, the Middle East, women's studies, and environmentalism.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One amazing thing I've seen near the bank of a river which we crossed on a raft in Matto Grosso, Brazil is thousands of monarch butterflies newly emerged from their cocoons on the ground slowing fanning their wings until they were able to fly.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can share my life experience, my way of seeing the world.
I'm interested in hearing about your life and your reality in the place you come from.
