About Me

Live local and think global

If I'm not out travelling I'm playing or both. I spend little time at home because there is so much to see and do with such a short life... I hang out with friends often and dabble in my many hobbies.

You have only 1 life so live it!

Do unto others as you would have...
I'm not religious but am spiritual. I'm not a hippy but I do have a large garden and chickens at home. I try my best to be a world citizen.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

I absolutely love sharing stories and hearing about people's experiences. If you're local or a complete stranger you can find a friendly smile here. I don't need to be pampered or spoon fed everything there is to do in a place however, local knowledge can't be beat.

I try to surf anytime that I travel. You can't beat the experience and culture of the locals. When I think back on the travels I've made in the last few years nearly all of the good memories I have have been with surfers or hosts.

I seek adventure.
I love to be active and sporty. I am an avid mountain and road biker. I love to scuba and snorkeling if the area is alive. Snowboard at the resorts and in the backcountry. Getting out of the city for a backpacking/tramping trip happens a few times a year. Weekly Yoga. Dancing is something that is a challenge but I'm always up for it (Salsa, Ballroom, Contra).

I'll try just about anything and have little fear of the unknown; ok there is fear there but I embrace it rather then shy away from it.

Music, Movies & Books

I really need to make more time to read... I used to be into fantasy novels but as of late I've been into various countries histories. The most recent were a couple books about Russia's changes in the last 10-20 years.

One Amazing Thing I've Done

I was within touching disgrace to lava. Scuba with Mantra rays ad big as a car. While SCUBA diving in Rarotonga we watched a huge Eagle ray swim over us while hovering on the side of a wall. Dropped a 7m waterfall in a raft. Hiked jungles in Costa Rica...

Don't be scared to ask. Don't assume that the way you do/think things is the way everyone else does.

Hitch hiking in New Zealand is common, easy and has been safe in my experience and from the countless travelers, both men and women, that I have met.
