To find the best flat-white in the world! (for those of you who don't know it's a bit like a latte but slightly less milky). Otherwise I hope I discover what I'm here for... to put it simply. Of course, I'd love to have fun with new friends.
I started my gap year a little late at 30 years of age. I left home last May to follow a dream job to Greece, a SwimGuide for a UK based open-water swimming tour operator. We conduct week long tours in the Small Cyclades, island hopping, only we don't stay in the boat - we swim. Since then I've been lucky enough to work in the UK, Turkey and Egypt. I love my job and I get to meet such a diverse group of people from all over the world with one common interest - to swim.
I guess you want to know more about me... I'm very easy going, friendly, the common thing people always say about me is that I'm "really nice", sometimes I think that might be a little boring, but ultimately I'd rather be this than a bad-boy. I'm not always that nice anyway, I swore once. The other common statement is that I'm really tall. As you may have guessed from my recent work experience, I'm a water baby and love all things associated with getting wet. I swam competitively as a teenager and returned to the sport a few years ago, competing at University championships and Masters games. I love to kayak, water-ski, surf and recently I just discovered diving. I love discovering new music, theatre, film and inventive bars and restaurants.
The more I travel the more I realise how much I like to be doing active things. My perfect vacation would be a combination of daring outdoor pursuits, then followed the next day by museum and gallery hopping, stopping for espresso in all it's forms on the way... or otherwise wine tasting in the local regions! I love art, music, food and wine festivals! If you come to Adelaide in Feb/Mar we can deliver on those!
Looking forward I hope to spend another 4 months working in the Greek Islands next year, return to Egypt to work as well but get qualified as a dive master. But eventually I'll need to return home to pick up my old life where I left it and hopefully build on my career in Public Relations.
Leap, and the net will appear.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've just started with CS officially, but I've been hosting and visiting friends for a few years now, it's just I've met them through other means. When I finally return home I'll delight in showing people the town I love so much.
Swimming, surfing, diving, skiing (water and snow which I have just discovered). Travel, food and wine! All kinds of culture. Music, theatre and film. The list is endless... people.
- wine tasting

Music, Movies, and Books
I loved the movie 500 days of Summer I just saw on the plane. Mmm as I am in Canada I am yearning for a bit of country music - corny I know!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The incredible stars hiking Mount Sinai in Egypt.
Standing at the top of the mountains in interior BC and looking down on thick cloud cover like a deep sea surrounding the peaks, snow glistened off the trees like a million diamonds in the sunshine.
Sailing across the Tasman sea with the Australian Navy - that's a great experience if you want to feel small!
