About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To finish work on my house and travel again.

ABOUT ME

I enjoy travel, music, meeting new people from all over, and learning; sometimes directly, sometimes vicariusly.

PHILOSOPHY

1. Laughing, smiling and remaining positive makes all the difference.
2. Despite political differces of the worlds leaders, for the most part people from all over the world can be great freinds when meeting on a personal basis.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I was bicycling from NC to WV partially using Warm Showers and met a great person who has surfed much thruout the world and I was 1st person he hosted, and 1st (and so far only) time I couch surfed.
Once my house finished, i hope to participate much more.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Only once, it was great (see info above). Was bicycling from NC to WV abd was in Fredericksburg, VA, heading to DC area. With no good (to me at the time) way to DC, I was decided to stay in Fredericksburg a week or so and play tourist. Within 15 minutes of that decision, I walked into a wine and cheese tasting place and over some wine, met my first host who was driving to DC next evening. After spending night at his house with wonderful dinner and conversation, next morning I helped him help friend volunteer at a biathlon. As a runner and biker, it was good to 'give back', and it turned out I was able to fill in a critical and much needed position, so win-win-win...

Interests

There is little I do not have interest, and am always interested in expanding my range of knowledge via developing new interests.
Travel, music, travel, outdoors, travel, learning. Ooops - forgot to mention travel.

Music, Movies, and Books

1. Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy! 42!
2. Damn Yankees (You gotta have heart...)
3. Folk, Classic Rock, oldies, bluegrass, most anything!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The Golden Route of Norway has been my favorite. This is putting country of Andorra, Grand Canyon, Swiss Alps, Hawaii and others as secondary. Norway Rocks!

Teach, Learn, Share

Remain curious! (OK, I stole that from PBS). When something you come across is 'new' to you, dig into it, find out what it is, learn about it. When someone has, is wearing, or doing something 'new' to you, ask them about it. Not only will they usually be more than glad to tell you about it, it will enhance your knowledge!

My revision of an old saying:
If you STOP learning new tricks, you will become an old dog!!!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Interesting stories,- mostly re travel; philosophies; humor. I usually find humor in everything.

Countries I’ve Visited

Andorra, Bermuda, Canada, Denmark, England, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Italy, Liechtenstein, Mexico, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Saint Martin (French part), Sweden, Switzerland, Wales

Countries I’ve Lived In
