About Me

I'm a Spanish-Basque Atheist gay guy in my late-30s.

I'm generally kind, chatty, respectful and open-minded; but at the same time I love discussing about controversial topics and sometimes I can get a bit opinionated.

I love meeting new people, good conversation and learning from different cultures.

Favourite conversation topics include languages, politics, religion, history, food, art, sexuality, literature and nerdy stuff (video games, comicbooks, etc). I like being controversial on certain topics, but I never take it as something personal.

I love food and strolling in urban areas. I am a coffeeholic, a wine drinker and a heavy smoker.

I'm writing a blog about my passion: authentic Chinese restaurants

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When travelling to Osaka, I contacted with a Japanese guy (not by CS), who told me something that impressed me: "I have been helped by other people when I was travelling abroad, and now I am going to help you." Then I have been helped by several people and hosts and that's the spirit I try to spread now.

Since then I have hosted some 40 people and I have been hosted by some 10, and most of them have been really good experiences, so I plan to keep doing it in the future.

I organize the weekly CS meeting in my city and attend other CS activities in the area. I am quite active in the forums.

I have written a (not-so) short guide about Bilbao with a lot of recommendations and all my favourite places. Ask me about it!

I host people now and then and meet travellers to show them around.

Plenty of them: exotic food (especially Chinese!), video games, religions, languages, TV (including reality shows), history and foreign cultures, politics, comicbooks, art, literature, board and card games... and so on!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Nothing really amazing to date, but:

Being the only foreigner guy in the secretive gay bars of Osaka was awkward but cool.

Tricking a Muslim friend into eating pork was delightfully evil.

Celebrating Thanksgiving for the first time in Sapporo with my first CS hosts was great.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach some Spanish and a bit of Basque.

I would love to learn more about languages, cooking, card and board games and many other things!

We can share recipes, internet bookmarks, movies/TV/books/music/comics/videogame recommendations, personal experiences, different viewpoints on controversial issues and travelling tips!
