About Me

CURRENT MISSION

finding a purpose for my life.

ABOUT ME

The fact that I just erased my previous description because it embarrassed me tells everything I guess. I spend too much time in my head. I'll just skip this step, to avoid future embarrassments. And describing yourself doesn't really make sense anyway.

PHILOSOPHY

Tout comprendre c'est tout pardonner. At least we can try, right?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I surfed a couch once (good experience! Little cold though), and once I get a decent spot for myself (with couch) I will definitely be open to hosting as well. It's a great way to meet new people and broaden your horizon.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Once! Great! Did a great hike with our host, which would have been impossible without him.

Interests

I prefer things that will make people say: YOU like THAT?! Hah! Go find a new box!

  • hiking
  • boxing
  • science

Music, Movies, and Books

The books and movies that impress me most are historical fiction. The really big books that you first think will never end but then they do. which makes you feel horrible. But I also like (BBC) detectives, or things like James Bond and Star wars.
Musically I mostly like jazz and folk-ish things, but I have lots of different cds. As longs as it sounds genuine.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One night at a tall ship, in the middle of the Baltic. I was in the 0-4 shift, and when I came up on the deck, the wind was gone... No human sounds apart from whispering and the maritime radio, the flapping of the sails and squeeking wood, sound of little waves... A totally cloudless sky, I have never seen so many stars, they were everywhere, all till the horizon. There where some ligths from distant cities and ships, but the rest was just black...

Teach, Learn, Share

Anyone interested in learning dutch? Anyone? Hello?! Apart from that I only have random little bits of nonsense to teach you, after all I am a social scientist. I am one of the few people though who never experiences (big) trouble assembling IKEA furniture. Honestly. RTFM.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Denmark, France, Greece, Hungary, Lithuania, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In

Canada, Netherlands
