About Me

We would love to have couch surfers come and help us with community projects. We live in a rural amaXhosa village on the Wild Coast.

We (Rahel & Aidan) live in a amaXhosa village on the Wild Coast - Eastern Cape. We run a backpackers and we assist the local community in any way possible, with the aim to create jobs and tourism in the area. We also do lots of organic gardening and would love to have help with this.
We have had volunteers come and help out at the backpackers for the last year. We started in February 2010 when we acquired the property and since then we have been renovating and turning the place into a beautiful, mostly self-sustainable, eco-friendly backpackers.

We have been traveling a lot and wander all over the world. We love backpacking and discovering new crazy places to visit.

We love to travel. We believe all people should have the choice to live their life comfortable and with the freedom to choose education in whichever form it comes.
We are open to discovery, ideas, philosophy and on Rahels side spirituality. Live and learn.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

We have traveled all over South Africa and Rahel has driven from Switzerland down through west Africa into central Africa. If you have any questions about travel, safety or just would like to chat then just send us an email and we would be happy to help.

Both of us have traveled a lot around the world and have always stayed at friends houses that we have met while traveling. Its the best way to meet more people and have a welcoming experience.
We have now hosted quite a lot of people and really enjoyed the experience. Everyone has been friendly and open and willing to share ideas.

Nearly everything to do with travel.
Social projects.
We love to be out in nature and we don't particularly like cities. We like to be free to do what we want and go where we want.

Music, Movies & Books

Most music but no Hip Hop...
We don't have a TV but enjoy a movie now and then.
Books are great and we read in most of our free time.
Recent books we loved: Shantaram and The Time Travelers Wife

One Amazing Thing I've Done

Rahel traveled by camper van with her sister from Switzerland to Central Africa - Think thats absolutely great.
Im still getting to the most amazing thing... give me some time.

Teach, Learn, Share

We would love create a community that builds its foundations on sustainable practices, organic gardens and has an open minded happy environment. You are welcome to come and share, teach or just be part of the community. The community we live in now really needs good teachers who will share their information on how to create new concepts, build in a new way or implement Appropriate Alternative Technology.
