About Me

CURRENT MISSION

on a mission to buy a boat!!!

ABOUT ME

31 years of age. Grew up in California, the son of two collage professors. Traveled extensively as my mother is a travel-o-pile, that is she is a fundamentally unsettled soul constantly on the move. I may have a bit of it myself. We spent three months of every summer living in a small cottage on the island of Quardra up in British Columbia Canada. It is a beautiful place and very dear to me. I went to collage in Los Angeles and one you at the University of Exeter in Devon county, England. I trained as an actor and was deeply involved in the theater for a number of years. In 2002 I got a work visa to the UK and began an apprenticeship in traditional wooden boat building at the yard of Camper & Nicholson in Gosport. When I was born my parents were living on a boat and I grew up sailing in San Fran bay and else were. I then finished my apprenticeship at a yard in Massachusetts were I built two boats from lofting to launch and then restored and repaired numerous others.

I account myself to be friendly, personable and easy to get along with. I am a kind person with a strong sense of patience. I have no love of war nor conflict yet strong political beliefs. My god in nature, she supplies all the mystery I could ever want.

PHILOSOPHY

Try and keep it simple, I focus more on the present and less on the future. My love is for the natural world. I find much of human action destroying what I find most beautiful in the world. I am drained by large crowds and empowered by sublime landscapes. I just go step by step. "Follow your bliss"

Music, Movies, and Books

At the moment I am listening to a lot of america folk and alternative but my music taste is vast and open. I find much rap and hip hop to be too aggressive for my taste. Modern country sounds contrived to me, I keep it at Hank, Willy and Waylon. I think hard alternative rock sometime captures the modern world better then any other music.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I account myself lucky to have lived as I have to this point. I have had the opportunity to sail transatlantic, live abroad, love brilliantly smart people, feel the transcendence of giving a good performance. I have been given life twice, once by my mother and once upon the operating table. I have created things that combined the aesthetic beauty of form, tradition, elegance and wood. It is deeply satisfying to launch a vessel you have spent nearly 14 months creating. I think, in a way it is like giving birth, or at lest as close as a man can understand?

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm not sure what I can teach... I have skills which I would be happy to teach, sailing, photographer and carpentry. Maybe even acting or some aspect of the theater. I am quite open to sharing ideas of all sorts. I will write more here as time goes on and find out more of how this program pans out.
